And if you hadn’t had enough of the snow…

And if you hadn’t had enough of the snow…

And if you hadn’t had enough of the snow; Storm Emma…

Storm Emma and a week of Snow

Storm Emma passed through last week bringing with it a lot of snow, freezing temperatures and the opportunity to get out and take some photos in the snow. I have to declare here, that although the disruption to traveling can be a bit of a bother; I do like snow! And no I haven’t got a 4×4, I just take the view of only traveling when there’s no other choice and walking when I can.

Monday

It all began on Monday with flurries all day but no real disruption to worry about.

Tuesday

Tuesday Morning began with a light frosting but again no real impact and it certainly didn’t stop us traveling over to Doncaster on Tuesday evening to see a play titled The Wedding. During the 3 hours at the theater the snow came down hard which led to a slow journey back home.

Wednesday

Wednesday morning and the full brunt of Emma hit us, sub zero and high chill factor along with deeper drifting snow meant we were house bound for the day. No snow day for me though; working from home means life carries on as normal.

Thursday

Thursday morning we woke up to more of the white stuff. We’ve now got between 10cm and drifts of 60cm or more. Another snow day as the snow continues to fall and the road outside is on lock-down. By the afternoon the wind really picked up, but the snow had stopped so an opportunity to get some fresh air and take the camera for a walk.

It was biting cold in the wind and drifting the snow which made bare hands and camera work a bit uncomfortable. Anyway a quick walk over Castle hill, across some stiles and up towards Cubley blew away the cobwebs. However, the chill wind soon had us turning back for home.

Friday

Friday arrived with more snow but things were beginning to settle and although temperatures were still sub-zero it looked like the end was in sight. Another short walk to the shops and to get some air.

Saturday

Saturday, and I spent the morning clearing the drive and road outside the house of snow. Maybe on Monday I’ll get down to London!

Sunday

Sunday morning and another dumping of snow overnight meant I spent the morning once again clearing the drive and road of snow. But also warmer temperatures meant it was much easier and the thaw continued throughout the day. It will probable take another few days for all the snow to disappear but I enjoyed it again for the few days we had it.
